Updated for 2019, The Camox Freebird Is Now Lighter Than Ever But Still Gives Great Skiing.
- Weight: 2.75 kg (per pair 178cm)
- Dimensions: 133/96/130 mm (178cm)
- Construction: Paulownia wood core with glass fibre
- Turn Radius: 17m
in 2019 this ski has been overhauled, they have chosen a full Paulownia wood core rather than using some Poplar, this lightens the ski considerably. They have also shrunk down the binding reinforcement area to two separate titanal sections under the toe and heel, this works for most pin bindings but can be a problem for some Telemark and frame touring bindings so check before you buy.
The Camox Freebird 2019 has a slightly straighter tail to keep the pop and help with edge grip.
On the snow the new Camox Freebird feels similar to ski, the lighter construction balancing out the straighter tail and though the wider shovel is noticeable amongst soft bumps in skied out terrain the differences on the way down are not vast.
The weight difference is big though and at sub 3KG for a ski of this width the Camox Freebird will be even more appealing to those wanting to skin for their turns.
A great choice for one ski to do it all for day tourers and anyone wanting a wider ski to take on longer tours, which is still capable of carving up the resorts.
