Lightweight Pin Bindings for ski touring with a modified toe piece to reduce pre release.
- Weight: 1.2 kg (per pair)
- Height from ski deck: 22mm
- Boot Compatibility: Boots with Tech fittings only.
- Adjustable release settings at heel only
- Release values: 2.5 - 7
The release values start at 2.5 and go up to 7 making them safe to use for very light and younger skiers.
Weighing in at 1.2 kilos for the pair they are considerably lighter than frame touring bindings. Based on the Radical ST 2, the ST Rotation 7 has a 'click' which keeps the rotating toe piece in the central position making it much easier to line up the heel pin fittings with the binding pins when stepping in.
Like it's predecessor, the Rotation 7 has a rotating plate below the toe piece which pivots as the boot twists in the binding, this allows the boot to rotate at the heel, within the heel piece's elastic range (some horizontal movement without reaching the release value) following big impacts without the toe piece pre releasing. This means that it should be no longer necessary to ski with the toe piece locked to skinning function to avoid unwanted release.
The Rotation 7 bindings have adjustable horizontal and vertical release at the heel.
The Dynafit ST Rotation 7 bindings have a low stand height making them feel stable and the pivot at the toe has a natural feel when skinning.
The Rotation series uses Dynafits Quick Step fittings which used in conjunction with a boot with Quick Step inserts make it easier to step in at the toe. With two flick over climbing positions on the heel piece its easier and quicker to change your heel height on varying terrain.
The Rotation 7 bindings feature brakes, this makes them easier and more practical for most users although the Rando racers out there will usually prefer the striped down models (look at the Superlite 2.0 12).
The current Rotation bindings don't have removable brakes so you can't easily swap to a different brake width if you change ski.
If you're an experienced but lightweight skier looking for a lightweight binding for a ski touring set up the Dynafit Rotation 7 is a great choice.
